Global Collaboration: CRC in Africa

The Colorectal Cancer (CRC) in Africa program is an annual, multidisciplinary initiative that brings together healthcare professionals from across Africa and beyond to strengthen capacity in colorectal cancer care and promote awareness. Delivered in a hybrid format, the program combines a one-day virtual webinar with an in-person week of hands-on workshops, providing both theoretical and practical training.
The Challenge
Colorectal cancer is on the rise in Africa, presenting early even in younger populations. It has persistently shown low survival rates largely due to lack of structured screening protocols and guidelines in many African countries, late presentation, and gaps in access to care.
Our Approach
In response to these challenges, the program emphasizes early screening, multidisciplinary care, and context-specific strategies to improve outcomes.
Core Tracks
The program evolved over the years to include six core tracks.
-
Surgery
-
Gastroenterology
-
Oncology

Nursing

The Pan-African Organization for Health, Education, and Research, in collaboration with a consortium of partner institutions, has hosted in-person workshops in multiple cities across Africa including:
